The Toilet Board Coalition strengthens its leadership

The Toilet Board Coalition is pleased to announce that its Steering Committee has appointed Greg Davies as CEO and Executive Director of the organisation, effective immediately.

Greg joined the Toilet Board Coalition in February 2020 as Director Finance, HR & Administration. He then took on the role of interim CEO in September 2020, following the departure of Cheryl Hicks, TBC’s inaugural CEO and Executive Director.

Under his leadership, the TBC has reviewed its strategy, membership structure and core programming. A structure and governance are now in place for growth.

Despite the multitude of disturbances caused by Covid during 2020 and 2021, the TBC has continued to deliver, underscoring the inherent resilience of its model of private sector participation building the Sanitation Economy. The programme impact and footprint have continued with an even greater momentum:

  • Year-end investments facilitated into private sector solutions to SDG6 have doubled;
  • We expanded our membership model to welcome all sizes and geographies of business;
  • We secured new multi-year commitments from leading Coalition companies and welcomed new members;
  • We convened key businesses and benefited from our largest engagement to date on World Toilet Day.

In recognition of the work achieved, the Steering Committee also decided on the following changes in the leadership team:  Alexandra Knezovich, Director of Operations, and Venugopal Gupta, Director Accelerator & Investment, have been promoted to Managing Directors.

As the Managing Director for Accelerator, Investments and India, Venugopal will focus on growing the flagship accelerator programme as well as the investment support. Additionally, he will lead the India programme.

Alexandra will focus on global programme development, member engagement, communications and research in her new role of Managing Director.

As we bring 2021 to a close, we reflect on these achievements and want to thank the members of the Coalition for their support and active participation.

“I am very happy to receive this vote of confidence from our Steering Committee and excited to expand the impact of TBC through business solutions to those most in need”, says Greg.

“It’s been a privilege to participate in the growth of the Coalition since 2016 and I am honoured to continue working with our members in this new capacity to scale our programming and impact. It is a joy to partner with Venugopal, Greg & our Steering Committee to lead the organisation into its next stage of growth”, says Alexandra.

“I am honoured at this recognition and consider it a rare privilege to be a part of TBC’s next stage of growth – unlocking new innovations, new markets and new impact with the aim of delivering sanitation for all,” says Venugopal.

“Thanks to the dedicated work done by the team over the past few months on reviewing its programming and structure, the TBC has now a very clear path forward. With this new leadership structure, the Steering Committee is confident that the TBC is fully equipped to achieve its ambitious 2025 vision.” Says Ishtpreet Singh, TBC Chair.
