There is an urgent need for efficient faecal sludge management – however, the logistics of sludge collection and transportation remain a major bottleneck. To address this issue, with the support of Aqua for All, the Toilet Board Coalition ran a Faecal Sludge Transportation & Logistics Lab in 2022, working with entrepreneurs in Sub-Saharan Africa. Six businesses completed the programme, revealing key insights, challenges and learnings in the sector.
